17 Hundred 90 Inn and Restaurant |
|
(Restaurants - Seafood) |
|
307 E President St, Savannah 31401 800-487-1790 |
 |
| |
Description:
HISTORIC DISTRICT. A historic mansion dating from 1790, this property was restored and opened as an inn in 1976. Its restaurant recalls a brick-and-beams tavern, and its excellent American Continental menu features dishes like pecan-crusted grouper, coq au vin, and crab-stuffed shrimp. You'll also find a half-roasted duckling, veal medallions, and a NY strip with sun-dried tomato butter. Happy hour specials attract crowds to the inn's lounge, which (like the property itself) is apparently haunted by the ghost of a lovesick young woman. |

Description:
TYBEE ISLAND. Everybody loves the Crab Shack, locals and tourists alike! They've even had their share of celebrity visitors. The best part about eating at the Crab Shack is sitting under the huge canopy of live oak trees with the view of the marsh. The Lowcountry Boil, a mixture of shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes, is especially popular. Much of their seafood is steamed, which will appeal to the health conscious. Prices are also reasonable. Take your friends, wear something casual, and sit back and enjoy the view while you eat some of the best seafood in Savannah. |

|
20 E Broad St, Savannah 31401 912-233-5757 |
 |
| |
Description:
HISTORIC DISTRICT. With a tradition of hospitality dating back to 1753, this establishment did, indeed, cater to seamen early on. These days, it's got a more sedate clientele, and they're more inclined to gluttony than to marauding. Locals frequently recommend the highly rated restaurant, and its 15 different dining rooms can handle a host of patrons. The menu specializes in seafood (everything from a stomach-sating seafood platter to grouper Florentine), and there's a terrific, reasonably-priced Southern lunch buffet as well from 11am till 3pm. Fabulous desserts round out a great meal. |
