Burger Burger
(Restaurants - American)
1039 Howard Ave, Biloxi  39530 • 228-432-5183
Description: BILOXI. The burger joint so nice, they named it twice. If you're going to eat a burger, eat the best burger on the Gulf Coast – and this is the place to get it. Order the House Special and you'll get a huge, perfectly cooked burger, served on lightly toasted French-style po' boy bread with a zesty mustard blend, onion and special gravy. Unforgettable! Don't forget a side of great fries and a bottled Barq's root beer – invented in Biloxi – to wash it all down. Other options include pressed po' boy sandwiches filled with shrimp or crabmeat or salads topped with grilled chicken or fried crawfish. But it's the burger that has proven addictive for loyal locals.

Grand Buffet
(Restaurants - American)
265 Beach Blvd Grand Casino Biloxi, Biloxi  39530 • 228-436-2946
Description: BILOXI. This casual, all-you-can-eat seafood buffet is a cut above the rest, with raw and hot seafood bars and a separate dessert station. Some diners never make it to the hot seafood bar because of the cold seafood and appetizer offerings: fresh boiled shrimp, Alaskan king crab legs, Gulf blue crabs, stone crab claws, sushi, oysters Rockefeller and Bienville and steamed clams and mussels. On the hot bar, several fish, crab and shrimp entrées await. Chef David Crabtree makes great-tasting flounder rolls stuffed with spinach, and the crab cakes are filled with plenty of crab and not too much breading. Desserts range from tortes, pies and bread pudding to no-sugar-added offerings for diabetics. Mixed drinks, wine and beer are available but aren't included in the buffet price.

195 Porter Ave, Biloxi  39530 • 228-374-9660
Description: This Biloxi landmark has housed a couple of Italian restaurants, but Jazeppi's takes the Italian cuisine and adds its own flavors of the Coast. Veal and fish dishes are exceptional. Try the Veal Mattina, paneed veal with shrimp, lump crab meat, crawfish tails and artichoke hearts in a light white sauce over angel hair pasta. Oyster lovers will enjoy the Oysters Carciofi. Roasted artichoke bottoms are filled with oyster stuffing, poached oysters and finished with an oyster veloute. The more typical Italian offerings of Chicken Marsala and Clam Linguine are also on the menu. For those that just want appetizers or drinks, a martini bar awaits at the south end of the restaurant.

Lil' Ray's PoBoys & Seafood
(Restaurants - American)
500 Courthouse Rd, Gulfport  39507 • 228-896-9601
Description: GULFPORT. Po' boys are where it's at when dining at this ultra-casual restaurant. Whether at the counter or one of the wooden tables and benches, this eatery serves up po' boys in two sizes, 8-inch and 12-inch, stuffed with fillings such as smoked sausage, shrimp or soft-shell crab. These hearty sandwiches come "dressed," meaning they are topped with mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato slices. Crawfish lovers can enjoy pounds or buckets of the spicy, boiled mudbugs. Boiled shrimp makes a nice lunch or light dinner, or try the popular seafood dinners. A plate of fried shrimp, oysters, fish and stuffed crab comes complete with hushpuppies, French bread and a choice of Cajun new potatoes, wedge potatoes, coleslaw or potato salad. Whatever you do, don't forget to order a Barq's (root beer, for the uninitiated), which was born in nearby Biloxi. Barq's and po' boys just go together.

Mary Mahoney's Old French House
(Restaurants - American)
110 Rue Magnolia, Biloxi  39530 • 228-374-0163
Description: Open since the mid-60s, this coastal restaurant has seen its share of celebrities. Bobby Mahoney, son of founder Mary Mahoney, carries on the family tradition of quality food and excellent service in the building that dates back to the 1700s. You'll find him roaming from table to table, sharing jokes or stories of old Biloxi. The seafood gumbo is the best way to start the meal. It's so good, in fact, that locals buy it by the half-gallon or gallon. Crab claws and soft-shell crabs are favorites, as well. The bread pudding is well worth the calories.

Reflective of its name, seafood is the mainstay, although crowds enjoy the weekday blue-plate specials, too. The seafood gumbo is one of the best, if not THE best, on the Coast.
