The 10Best Nightlife

Bars

Salt Lake City, UT

Best Bars (Nightlife)
(10 Overall Closest)
Bar-X-Inn
(Nightlife - Bars)
155 E 200 South, Salt Lake City  84111-1508 • 801-532-9114
Description: DOWNTOWN. A bit seedy – but cozily so – Bar-X tends to get a little rowdy at times, especially on game nights. An interesting mix of students and local armchair QBs crowds in on a nightly basis, looking to meet up with friends, down a few brews, and maybe even settle into a few orders of their favorite pub grub. If the conversation begins to lull (or gets drowned out by the blaring jukebox), then just head to the back and shoot a few games of pool.

Cotton Bottom Inn
(Nightlife - Bars)
2820 E 6200 South, Holladay  84121-2320 • 801-273-9830
Description: HOLLADAY. Some discriminating locals may dismiss this fun joint as "just another beer bar." In fact, the place has a style and character all its own, from the always-present Hogs lined up out front to the tragically hilarious Bugs Bunny motif inside. Make your way in, sidle up to the bar, and place an order for your favorite cold one. After a while, should you start feeling hungry, take a peek at the pub menu. Heaping sandwiches and burgers can satisfy just about any need.

Iggy's Sports Grill
(Nightlife - Bars)
423 W 300 South, Salt Lake City  84101 • 801-532-9999
Description: DOWNTOWN. If you can't score tix for the big game, an excellent alternative is catching it on the big screens at Iggy's, one of SLC's favorite sports bars. Just like in the world of sports, everything here can be judged by the numbers: 20+ brews on tap, 21 television monitors, a 111-inch monster tube, and a mammoth 1-pound hamburger. All of this adds up to great fun. When you're ready for a break from the testosterone, walk around and take in the joint's cool atmosphere, which includes sports-related odds and ends.

Junior's Tavern
(Nightlife - Bars)
30 E 300 South, Salt Lake City  84111-3204 • 801-322-0318
Description: DOWNTOWN. One of the downtown area's best neighborhood bars, Junior's has been a jazz-lover's haven since 1974. Aside from cold Guinness and Cutthroat, what regulars adore most about Junior's is the jazzy atmosphere that invites people in and surrounds them with friendly vibes – that cool, nostalgic look of a joint that's been around for a while. Autumnal colors and an impressive wall of beer cans add character, and Junior's occasionally hosts live music as well. A small outdoor patio is fun too. Membership required.

A cafe serves delicious breakfasts each day, and the restaurant features grilled chicken, steak, and fish options (each one is accompanied by a large baked potato and side salad). If dancing isn't your thing, mosey over to the bar, order your favorite poison, and watch the game on the tube. Since Totem's is a private club, you'll need to purchase a temporary membership.
